Chuuk Travel Info Chuuk State (formerly Truk Lagoon) is one of four states which comprise the Federated States of Micronesia, a freely associated nation with the United states of America. How to get to Chuuk Continental Air Micronesia has direct flights from Guam or you can experience the "Island Hopper" from Hawaii - with stops on many of the islands along the way. Entry Formalities Visas are not required for visitors of 30 days or less. You must have a valid passport or documenation of citizenship. All visitors must have an onward or return ticket. Entry authorization for longer than 30 days must be obtained in advance from the Office of Immigration and Labor, FSM National Government, Kolonia, Pohnpei, FSM 96941. No immunizations are required unless coming from an infected area. What to wear Dress is casual, shorts and t-shirts are widely acceptable on the resort grounds and of course on the dive boats. For women, local custom is to wear a skirt or wrap to cover the thighs when away from the resort. Light clothing is comfortable in our climate. What to bring In our tropical climate, you will want protection from the sun - sunscreen and hats. Dive skins are enough to keep you warm and also protect you from the sun when snorkeling or traveling in the boats. The Blue Lagoon Resort has a gift shop and you can find items such as toothpaste and other of those easily forgotten items there or in some of the small stores around the island. Diving With over 40 wrecks, littered with artifacts, more than 800 species of fish, no currents and 28 degrees water. Diving doesn't get much better. Diving Permit If you are planning on diving in Chuuk during your visit, you will need a Chuuk Dive Permit. The Blue Lagoon Dive Shop will take care of it for you when you arrive. Dive Equipment The dive shop has full equipment rental which you can arrange for in advance. Diving fees include tanks, weight belt and weights. Most divers are more comfortable with their own dive gear so bring what you think you want to use. Airport Departure Fees The airport departure fee is $15. |
