We call ourselves "Nature's Treasure Chest" because there is so much to see and do. The cultural and natural variety here is found in few other places on the planet.
These islands are a potpourri of sights and experiences for the true adventurist: sandy beaches, mangrove forests, sunken ships, exquisite flora, and ancient Venice-like city, emerald passages that link calm lagoons with the open sea, tropical jungles, mist-covered mountains, cascading streams and spectacular waterfalls.
Tourism is a new, thriving industry in Micronesia. Its people gladly welcome visitors with open arms. Their warm hospitality is one of the major attractions for visitors travelling to these lush islands.
The Federated States of Micronesia particularly wants to embrace those looking for eco-tourism experiences. Its goal is to attract visitors who will seek and appreciate the beauty of the islands while keeping intact the unique cultures and the natural attractions above and below the sea.

Federated states of Micronesia Travel Info
The Federated States of Micronesia's history dates back several thousand years. They were originally settled by asian and Polynesian peoples. Later, discoverers and settlers included Spanish, Germans and Japanese. Following a trusteeship under the U.S. administration after World War II, the Federated States of Micronesia is now independent and self-governing. The FSM became freely associated with the U.s. in 1979.
United as a country, the people remain a heterogenous mixture of different customs and traditions bound together by recent history and common aspirations. The cultural diversity is typified by the existence of eight major indigenous languages. The island people continue to maintain strong traditions, folklore and legends.
Most islanders are multilingual, speaking their own tongue and English. English is the official language of government and commerce. Japanese may also be spoken by many parents and grandparents who may have been raised under the Japanese rule.
Eash island airport has its own customs and immigration officials. If you plan on visiting several islands in one trip, you will be passing through customs and immigration lines at each stop and filling out the usual paperwork. U.S. citizens may enter any state with a U.S. passport or proof of citizenship. Non-U.S. citizens must have a valid home country passport.
Travel to the FSM comes through Guam, Hawaii, Sydney, Australia, and Manila.
