Historical Sites

Kapitan Moy Residence
It is the 200-year-old residence of Don Laureano Guevarra, popularly known as Kapitan Moy, who is considered as the founder of the country's footwear industry. The house has been cited as a historical landmark by the National Historical Commission.

Roman Catholic Church
More than 400 years old, the church stands imposingly on the town's center, a tribute to the religious and cultural awareness of the residents.

Jesus dela Peña Chapel
The town of Marikina was established in 1630 by the followers of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the Jesuit Orders who blazed the trail in quest of spiritual transformation among the country's inhabitants. Back then, Marikina had been called Jesus dela Peña in honor of the Infant Child Jesus. The Jesus dela Peña Chapel was built by the Jesuits on April 16, 1930. It has been declared a national shrine by the National Historical Commission.

Man-Made Attractions

Marikina River Park
Spurred by the death of natural resources resulting from the continuous growth in residential area, the city of Marikina took pains in rehabilitating and converting the 220 ha. Marikina River into a sports and recreational park.

Sentrong Pangkultura ng Marikina / Kapitan Moy Museum
The old Kapitan Moy building, now named Sentrong Pangkultura ng Marikina, was constructed in 1780 by Don Jose Guevarra whose family owns "Asyenda Tuason." This old house is not only a structure of nails and adobe. It is an edifice that links us to the past because of the historical events that became known here.

Shoe Museum
The former Bigasang Bayan is presently being rehabilitated and will be converted into a Shoe Museum showcasing the products that gave Marikina the monicker, Shoe Capital of the Phillippines. Part of the collection are the famous Imelda Marcos shoes.

Marikina Sports Center
Marikina used to be a fulcrum of regional sports events when it was still a part of the province of Rizal. It used to be the training ground of some of the best athletes the country has ever produced.

Armscorp Shooting Range
The Arms Corporation, the biggest manufacturer of guns and ammunition in the Philippines, has developed a portion of its premises into a shooting range of international standard. It thus provides the country an alternative venue for national and international shooting competitions.

Tuazon Entertainment Zone
Visitors looking for night-time entertainment has a good place to go here.

Riverbanks Center
The Riverbanks has the following amenities: a three-star hotel, amphitheatre, a convention hall, basketball and tennis courts, shopping stalls, boating facilities, landscape promenade, barbecue plaza, and ample parking facilities.
