| EVENTS and FESTIVALS JANUARY January 21 1st Saipan Marathon & 25th Annual Saipan Half Marathon & 20th Annual 10 Kilometer Fun Run - 10k (6.2 Miles) and half marathon (13.1 miles/21.1K). Entry fee is $25 and $30 after January 15, 2006. Start time 5:30 a.m. pre-race check-in 4:30 am to 5:15 am., at the American Memorial Park Intersection (Micro Beach), Next to DPS Sub-Station. Age division: 19 and under, 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; and 50 and Up. Running course will be along the scenic Beach Road in Saipan. The 10K run turn around is in front of the Saipan Bowling Center in Oleai and the Half Marathon run turn around south of the San Antonio Beach (P.I.C.). Entry fee deadline is January 14, 2005 (all Events). FEBRUARY February 8-12 Marianas Open Windsurfing Championships (Saipan) - The Marianas Open incorporates both kite boarding and windsurfing over a five day festival and takes place on Micro Beach, a slender strip of white sand that hugs the island's western shore. Competitors from Japan, Guam and the CNMI will vie for honors in this event. This international sport event is part of the Asian Windsurfing Tour, which include Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and the Marianas. Triathlon: Swim 1.5km, Bike 40km, Run 10km. Triathlon entry Fee is $60, late $90 / Reef swim entry fee: (A-type & B-type) $45, late $60. Registration is from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Island Gear (Tinian Dynasty Hotel). There will be a pre-race briefing at the Tinian Dynasty Hotel (poolside area) on February 17, 2005 at 6:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m. Deadline for all entries is: February 4, 2006. Largest and longest running volleyball tournament in the Micronesia. Top players from around the world compete for big prize money. Event time: 9 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Pacific Islands Club. Entry fee: $60.00 (2-person/per team). Awards: $10,000 in cash & prizes. Deadline for all entries: February 23, 2006 (6:00 p.m.). Payment deadline is: February 25, 2006 (9:00 a.m.). March 4-5 31st Annual Saipan Laguna Regatta - The Saipan Laguna is hosted annually by the Over the Reef Yacht, is the longest running annual sport event on Saipan. Venue: Saipan lagoon. Race start: 9:55 a.m. Pre-registration is recommended. Entries shall be made on the Official Entry Form only and returned with the entry fee of $75.00 per person. Entry fee covers, registration (1 sailor), Lunches (both days), event t-shirt, and awards banquet. APRIL April 1 XTerra (Saipan) Championship - An international sporting event, that will take place in some of the most rugged terrains and jungles of Saipan. The X-TERRA is an extreme triathlon challenge, which includes a 1.5K swim, a 12K trail run, and a 30K mountain bike race. A nationwide network of seventeen events offers the chance to race your way to the XTERRA World Championship which will be held on Maui, the battleground for an exclusive field, the best XTERRA age groupers from each region, and the strongest pro field since the inception of the sport. April 7-9 The Great Tinian Cliff Fishing Derby April 8 17th Annual Tagaman Triathlon - A 2K swim begins in the crystal clear waters at the Pacific Islands Club, a 60k bike along the island's beautiful bike courses and a 15k run along the western lagoon, through the American Memorial Park pathway. Cash prizes for top six male and female finishers and trophies to age group winners. Registration deadline: TBA.
